How many of you women dreamed about marrying a prince after reading fairy tales like snow white or cinderella?

How many little boys will dream about marrying a prince after being read this fairy tale at their school? It’s called “King & King”. It’s being read in schools at a state where gay marriage is legalized.

That’s very interesting!

Interesting! The Paperbag Princess is a great book for young girls which shows you don’t need a Prince to take care of you at all. It is a refreshing book for girls who have read snow white and cinderella themed books.

I personally do not agree with those beliefs! I dreamed about marrying a prince after reading fairy tales, much like any other little girl. The fact that they are influencing the young kids like that at such an early age i believe is wrong. I think it should be up to the parent whether or not they talk to their children about that kind of stuff.

I don’t so much have a problem with the idea of girls dreaming of marrying a prince…it was once a strong value in our society to hope our children grew up to have happy marriages. My main problem with most of those stories is that the prince was the all consuming and only way for the girl to find happiness and salvation from her sad and tortured life. I don’t think that teaching a person to place all of their happiness in one person is a good idea, nor do I think that teaching them that they need someone else to save them, rather than teaching them how to save themselves.

This King and King book bothers me, too. Mostly because schools are using it to indoctrinate kids into liberal values, and opening up dialogues about homosexuality at such young ages. I don’t believe that homosexuality is wrong personally, but I also don’t want to have to explain it to a 6 or 7 year old either.
